About Us
Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.
What are Thelemistas
?
First and foremost, we're Thelemites Liber AL I;40, which means that we accept The Book of the Law as the fundamental statement of our doctrine, and believe that our primary purpose in this life is to discover and do our Will Liber AL I;42.
Beyond that, we believe that the path to Enlightenment is open to everyone. Everything necessary to achieve that goal is available if you only know where and how to look. We believe that we, and you, can learn to be Magickal people, without necessarily needing to find a guru to show us the way. Given the right tools, self-enlightenment is possible.
It would be wrong to call us anarchists, though. That term has been co-opted and turned into a simple rejection of authority in all its forms. We don't reject it; rather, we internalize it: we are our own governors, in accordance with our Will. We're not anarchists, we're suarchists
. We believe that the Self must govern the Self, and that ultimately, nothing else can.
But! Self-governance isn't easy, and it isn't free: it takes dedication and a true willingness to work and study. (But the rewards are well worth it, even if you do need to stop every once in a while and remember why you're putting yourself through this.) The work, you have to do yourself. The study, we can help with — or at least we can point you down the road. The entire body of human knowledge divides into four basic groups: things you really need to know (words to live by); things that will help you understand and internalize those things; other stuff that will probably be helpful; and everything else, stuff you can ignore.
(Those will eventually be links to various libraries. For now, you'll just have to pretend. Or laugh at us, or something.)
Love is the law, love under will.
The altar in our temple
Okay, Beast, we've got your number.
Who calls us Thelemites will do no wrong, if he look but close into the word. For there are therein Three Grades, the Hermit, and the Lover, and the man of Earth. Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.
Let it be that state of manyhood bound and loathing. So with thy all; thou hast no right but to do thy will.
Accept the worship of the foolish people, whom thou hatest. The Fire is not defiled by the altars of the Ghebers, nor is the Moon contaminated by the incense of them that adore the Queen of Night.
I am not an Anarchist in your sense of the word: your brain is too dense for any known explosive to affect it.
